Sunday! A non-#AtoZ post

Oh, hello! It is Sunday, and so there is not an A to Z post scheduled for today, so I thought I’d just drop in to keep my streak up.

How are you today?

I’m doing okay. Personally everything is fine, but a friend got some bad news last night, and so I’m thinking of that a lot.

My house is kind of a mess, and I did a little bit to work on that by cleaning the bird’s cage this morning without the help of the child who considers the bird theirs. I realized that was going to be a thing when we got the bird, so I don’t mind. I need to do my own research as to how often the cage should get cleaned. Any bird owners have advice on that?

I’m cutting my hair today with the help of my youngest. They’re going to practice cutting and trimming until it’s at the point where the trimmer comes out and we just shave it off. The plan is to use the largest guard, but if we end up using the shortest one, that’ll be fine, too. More than two years ago now I cut it off, didn’t loose my job, and enjoyed the freedom super-short hair affords.

I don’t know if I’ve explained why I’m doing it this time, so please forgive me if this is duplicate information. I love the length of my hair right now, but I also love not washing my hair every day. Because I wear it up almost all the time, I can go four days between washes, especially now that I’m working at home. That’s fine, but when I do shampoo and condition my hair, I lose a lot of hair in the shower (despite daily brushing, brushing before my shower, etc). Since our income is altered due to the pandemic, I am looking at this purely from a “I need to keep the pipes clear and eliminate the risk of large amounts of my hair from clogging them” perspective.

We’ll tackle my hair after lunch, which I need to address right now for the child who is going to help me. Once lunch is achieved, we’ll do hair, and then I can shower. I really, really want to shower right now, but I absolutely do not want to shower twice. So yes.

The rest of my Sunday will be routine. Around 6 pm we gather the trash and recycling to go out to the curb for our pickup early tomorrow morning. Sometime after hair and before trash, I’ll go through our finances for the week and pay bills. If the filming of the hair works out, I’ll have video to edit and get posted on my Patreon for a day before putting it live on YouTube.
