…not.

Hi! I know you stopped by looking for an A-Z post of a short story, or perhaps the craft of writing. Perhaps you even looked so far as to see that my theme is “Catching Up.” Well, while I am spending a couple of days “catching up”, so at least on that point I’m on theme, there may actually be no fiction or writing talk.

Well, except for this post, where I explain that I haven’t been writing lately. I did really good with November of last year.

I have been participating in National Novel Writing Month since 2003, and even though I tried to shake it for a couple years, I still manage to write those 50,000 words.

So November I wrote the words, met the goal, and then in December, finished the story, and then published it. It had a fairly good reception, partly because I shared it with my coworkers, and they were so excited to read my “first book” (it wasn’t my first book, just the first book they knew about) that a bunch of them bought it.

And then in January, I started writing the “sequel”, which largely wasn’t a sequel but the missing chunk from the first book from the other character’s perspective.

But January was rough. I’ve written about it here, and the post isn’t too far away because I don’t post often, so you can find it here if you wanted. And then I just basically never got back on the wagon.

I didn’t finish the “sequel”. I haven’t written anything else, despite my best intentions and tons of ideas on Pinterest (it’s the board called “Write that shit down damnit”, if you’re interested in seeing what inspires me, since I have my Pinterest linked here).

So that’s my story. I’m kind of thinking I’ll just keep plodding along with daily posts with some vague connection to A-Z because my friends are doing it and I love having a blog and I enjoy posting.

So HAI! Welcome! I’m sorry it’s not what you expected.

  1. Hi! I am woefully behind on reading blogs, but I’m happy you’re participating! ❤
